Women Health Specialties
What to expect when you come for therapy
An Evaluation will be done be a licensed physical therapist and will be performed in a private treatment room behind closed doors.
Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable atmosphere. Each patient will be given the option of an external and internal exam. NOTE: While the internal exam provides the most accurate assessment, we do understand that this maybe very uncomfortable for personal reasons and treatment can be administered without an internal exam.
You may also be asked to insert a vaginal/rectal sensor so that we can assess the pelvic floor musculature from a biofeedback unit. We are all unique individuals and so are our pelvic floors, so each of these tests will give a better understanding of your specific needs and how we can better treat you.
Patient education is the key to success with pelvic floor dysfunction. We will educate you about the muscles of the pelvic floor and their function. You will learn how diet, exercise and medications can affect your pelvic floor, and how increasing your fluid intake can actually help with your symptoms. All of these things combined with pain relief techniques and strengthening your pelvic floor will lead you on your way to a stronger, healthier pelvic floor.
We understand that these things can be very embarrassing, but at Green Mountain Physical Therapy we take a caring approach to making you well again. We will maintain your privacy, dignity and overall comfort while helping you improve your health issues. We look forward to meeting you and getting you back to normal daily activities of living!
